Using Vascular Imaging to Detect Arterial Plaque Buildup

Jul 24, 2017 | News

Earlier this month, researchers at Mount Sinai Health System performed a study using 3D ultrasound vascular imaging to detect plaque buildup in arteries. Results showed that, at an average age of 45, plaque buildup in men was twice as high as in women.

Post-experiment, the study’s lead author, Valentin Fuster, MD, PhD, director of Mount Sinai Heart and physician-in-chief of The Mount Sinai Hospital, commented that this method will be beneficial in identifying individuals at risk, but further studies are needed to assess the cost of this method compared to others.

As a vascular imaging device company, we’ve continue to push the boundaries of what is possible in 3D imaging, much like ultrasound, with our IOPS technology. Learn more about the idea behind IOPS, how it will benefit your healthcare system, and why it will outperform the current standard of care.
